At the beginning of April 2019, ARTE launched "The Universal Declaration of Human Rights: REDESIGNED" to print and disseminate our reimagined UDHR. To further amplify the UDHR, we created a visual collection of artwork.
How can the visual form help us understand and connect with our rights in new and meaningful ways?
The launch of The UDHR: REDESIGNED was a response to a lack of understanding or familiarity with the document and the rights it outlined. ARTE believes that when we know our rights, and connect with them, we are better able to defend them for ourselves, and for others.
That is why Iona Tan curated a visual Universal Declaration of Human Rights that pairs each article with a visual piece of art. This project aims, not only to elevate our universal rights, but the artists themselves. ARTE believes that artists play crucial roles as peace builders in our communities. Please support the artists in this project by following their work or buying their pieces. Also, if you are one of the highlighted artists, please feel free to reach out to us directly to find ways that we can continue to amplify your work.
