Art and Resistance through Education
Rhea Charles (she/her) – Hello! My name is Rhea and I am a senior at Columbia University studying computer science and South Asian Studies. At school, I am involved with the Sapna Project, a club centered around having community events that discuss and celebrate the diversities and struggles in South Asian and diasporic identity.
I have a longstanding passion for the arts and activism, which I am so thankful to combine in my work as a current Intern and past Youth Voices Lead facilitator at ARTE. I am continuously inspired by the amazing justice-based work we do as an organization, and the way we are able to amplify the voices of NYC youth!
My current favorite art piece is German surrealist Michael Sowa's illustration for a book named A Bear Called Sunday (Axel Hacke).
